Ready to Sleep! (September 7, 2011)

We've arrived! What a long trip...

The flight from GR to Atlanta went great. Don and I, along with our partner Dave Pothoven, made good use of our time in the Atlanta airport. Had supper or lunch or something at TGI Friday's. :)

Our planeload of 300+ spent an extra hour on the ground in Atlanta, waiting to leave for South Africa. PTL for a lot of college kids heading here for a missions trip. Made for a pleasant dominant tone among the passengers, all of whom really wanted to get started with a very long flight.

Somewhere over the equator, Don and I congratulated each other for surviving 44 years together. And, we're doing what we love by being at The Pines.

Seeing Phil and Alana Carmichael on the other side of the gate here in Johannesburg made it seem as though we were coming home. As we loaded up the van, we put Dave in the front seat so he could experience first hand the disorientation of being a passenger on the left side, seeing traffic zip by in the dark going the wrong way..Mr. Cool handled it just fine.

So, we arrived here in Welkom about a quarter to ten, local time -- a quarter to four in the afternoon back in Michigan -- and we are looking forward to being clean, stretching out on a real bed, and getting a good night's sleep. Don and Dave have already taken a tour of the flats where they'll be working. Sally and I have talked about books to read and letters to be written. I think we'll keep busy.

Thanks for praying for us.
Judy
